Exam time is upon us!  Now would be a good time to start reviewing material for your finals.  Do you have everything you need to start studying?  How about notes?  Did you take them, are they in order?  If not, don’t worry too much.  Go back to your textbook and class materials and create a study guide – you’ll find that’s a great way to study!

I think we can all agree that any notes are better than no notes!  But we do have some tips to make the notes you take even better.

  1. Headings and Dates.  Make sure you always give your notes a heading and date.  When you go back to study, they’ll be easy to find and you’ll know exactly whaCornellt material was covered that day.
  2. Break information into chunks.  You don’t need to write down everything the teacher says.  It can be very daunting to look back on your notes and see nothing but endless paragraphs.  Capture the main ideas of the lesson by using major headings and bullet points instead of long sentences. Try the Cornell Note Method where you divide your paper into two columns and put terms/headings on one side and definitions and examples on the other (wider) side.

  3. Make it neat.  Make sure you write neatly so when you study from your notes later you can read and understand everything you wrote.

We hope these simple steps will  make exam preparations and studying a little easier!
